Military Services

It is entirely up to a family, if they would wish to have military services after the committal services at the cemetery. (In the event that we have a memorial service, we have had the military services following outside of the funeral home.)

In our area, our local American Legion Post # 127, V.F.W. Post # 7190 of Murphysboro and Post # 2605 of Carbondale, and the Jackson County D.A.V. Chapter # 69 conduct full military honors, (which include folding the flag, presenting the flag to the family, the 21 gun salute followed by taps) for a deceased veteran.

Some people may not realize this, but at the end while taps is being played, if you were in the military out of respect you would salute and if you were not in the military out of respect you would place your right hand over your heart.

In tribute to the men and women of these organizations who provide the honor guard, we have placed this sign in our flower garden, and in gratitude to all men and women who have served in the military, we recognize what they have done for our freedom.
