Mary E.  Wright (Howell)
Mary E. Wright, 78, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Mary was born on November 2, 1936, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to William Dennis Howell and Revil Helen (Shadowens) Howell.

She had worked as a cook at area health care facilities.

Mary enjoyed being with her family, but she could not wait to get to heaven to be reunited with her husband. She was a very faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

She married Austin O. Wright on May 9, 1956, in Corinth, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1995.

Mary is survived by three children Michael A. Wright, Cindy Rose and her husband Craig Rose, and Michelle Joiner, all of Murphysboro;

five grandchildren Nathan Michael Wright and his wife Amy Nicole Wright, Craig Austin Rose, Chad Andrew Rose and his wife Kaitlin Debra Rose, Lesleigh Gayle Wright, and Joseph Drew Joiner;

four great grandchildren Alexys Rose, Lilly Rose, Tinley Rose, and Aven Story;

one brother Alvis Howell of Murphysboro;

and three sisters Patty VanMeter and Helen Howell, both of Murphysboro and Rose Worthen of Grand Tower.

She was preceded in death by one great granddaughter Camryn Rose, five brothers John, Herman, Lyman, Bud, and Jim Howell, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Elm Street Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
