Obituary for Hilda R. Etherton (Glover)
Hilda R. Etherton, 93, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Hilda was born on August 1, 1921, in Carterville, Illinois, to William H. Glover and Mary (Damron) Glover.
She had worked at the Glove Factory in Murphysboro from 1949 to 1960. She liked to make things and loved to embroidery, quilt, crochet, and sew.
Mrs. Etherton was a member of the Mt. Carbon Christian Church in Murphysboro.
Hilda married Charles R. Etherton on September 2, 1960, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1998.
Survivors include one daughter Mary Alice Russell of Woodlawn, IL;
two granddaughters and their husbands Sheila and Brad Owens of Coopersburg, PA and Beth and Dale Ethridge of Woodlawn, IL;
three great grandchildren Erin Owens of Charleston, SC, Eric Owens of Coopersburg, PA, and Carly Ethridge of Woodlawn, PA;
four step children Keith Etherton, Donna Webb, Charlotte Fink and Linda Cano; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren;
and two brothers Jim Glover of Carbondale and Leonard Glover of Carterville.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Neathery officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Celtic Hospice. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
