Obituary for Ellen Nora Blankenship (Newberry)
Ellen Nora Blankenship, 90, passed at at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at her residence in Murphysboro.
Ellen was born on October 23, 1924, in Red Ash, Virginia, to Charlie Newberry and Etta (Hess) Newberry.
Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She was married to Bud Blankenship and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1985.
Mrs. Blankenship is survived by one daughter and her husband Nancy and Brad Rife of Murphysboro;
one son Bill Blankenship of Buford, VA;
four grandchildren Travis (Megan) Rife, Bradley Rife, Tiffany (Nathan) Shemwell, and Nikita "Nikki" (Matt) Shortt;
seven great grandchildren Tristan Shemwell, Trenton Shemwell, Lyla Rife, Ella Rife, Dianmond Shemwell, Kayden Rife, and Julianna Shemwell;
and one sister Evelyn "Jean' Philley of New York.
She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters and her parents.
Gravesite services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2015, at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, 11800 Governor George C. Peery Hwy, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609
