Jane  Kamminga (Powell)
Jane Kamminga, 77, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015, at her residence in Murphysboro.

Jane was born on June 10, 1938, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Caleb "Daryl" Powell and Rose (Bracker) Powell.

She had worked in the Schaumburg area as an office manager for Sears Credit Bureau.

Mrs. Kamminga was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. She had volunteered many hours at the Murphysboro Food Pantry, where she also had served on the board. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over twenty years.

Jane loved reading, gardening including flowers, fruit and vegetables. She loved feeding the hummingbirds and enjoyed her cats.

She married Francis "Frank" G. Kamminga on June 11, 1959, in Cook County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1992.

Jane is survived by one son and daughter in law Rick and Bonnie Kamminga of Murphysboro;

two granddaughters Kaitlin Kamminga and her fiancée Erik Schemonia, both of Nashville, TN and Lyndsay Kamminga of Murphysboro;

two step grandchildren Michelle Bolen of Benton, KY and Michael Porter, II of Murphysboro;

two step great grandchildren Madison Grammer of Benton, KY and Marshall Grammer of Murphysboro;

and two brothers and sister in laws Chuck and Marilyn Powell and Donald and Diana Powell, all of Underwood, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by one brother Richard Powell and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Pettett Funeral Home with Debra Rathert, Lay Minister of the First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gravesite services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
