Mr. Reed had worked as a carpenter.

Bruce married Linda Kay Cripps in 1990, in Paducah, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on October 2, 2007.

He is survived by three children Judy Johnson of Thebes, Rusty Reed and his wife Sandy Reed and Krista Ticer, all of Murphysboro;

six grandchildren Tristan Reed Zlotnicki, Mikayla Zlotnicki, Katelyn Zlotnicki, Cole Ticer, Dakota Ticer, Isabelle Reed, and Abigail Reed;

three brothers and four sisters Ronnie (Gina) Reed of Murphysboro, Danny (Martha) Reed of Ava, Mike Reed of Sandridge, Donna (John) Norton, Darlene (John) Williams, and Tress Williams all of Grand Tower, and Brenda (Tom) Gale of Pomona;
