Ray Lee
Ray Lee, 90, of Murphysboro, passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois.
Ray was born on March 11, 1925, in Murphysboro, to Albert William Lee and Edith (Robinson) Lee.
He had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company and had worked as a janitor for the Murphysboro School District # 186.
Mr. Lee was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.
Ray married Lydia Ziegler on April 2, 1946, in Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death on February 26, 2013.
Survivors include one daughter and son in law Cynthia and Kevin Buenerkemper of Normal;
four grandchildren Kori Vasquez and her husband Ric Vasquez of Phoenix, AZ, Coleby Buenerkemper and his wife Irish Buenerkemper of Yorktown, VA, Christopher Buenerkemper of Bloomington, and Collin Buenerkemper of Portland, OR, and Stephanie Rasmussen, who was a close family friend;
five great grandchildren Thomas Buenerkemper, Anthony Vasquez, Adrianna Buenerkemper, Kristofer Buenerkemper, and Lucian Buenerkemper;
two sisters Catherine Byrd and Frieda McKinney, both of Murphysboro; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters Inez Pellegrini and Blanche Wehrheim, six brothers Raymond, Eugene, Joe, Johnny, Carl, and Delmar Lee, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Pettett Funeral Home and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
