Obituary for Lyle Zenas Robb

Lyle Zenas  Robb
Lyle Zenas Robb, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, in the Illinois Veteran's Home at Anna.

Lyle was born on Dec. 24, 1925, in rural Coulterville, Illinois, to Zenas Allen Robb and Mary Dorothy (Cunningham) Robb.

He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine during World War II.

Lyle had owned Robb Land Clearing and then went to work as a Gas Journeyman for twenty eight years, retiring from Ameren in 1987.

Mr. Robb was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro, where he was a Deacon Emeritus.

He was a member of the Experiment Aircraft Association # 277 in Carbondale. He enjoyed rebuilding aircrafts. He was a welder and a very good craftsman. He also enjoyed coon hunting.

Lyle married Sara Ruth Lazenby on Dec. 18, 1945, in Pinckneyville, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on June 6, 1992.

He is survived by four children Candace R. Shadowens and her husband Dale Shadowens of Goreville, Richard B. Robb and his wife Shari Robb of Washington, PA, Jimmy L. Robb of Marion, and Rebecca D. Streuter and her husband Jeff Streuter of Murphysboro;

twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren;

and one brother Dean Robb and his wife Cindy Robb of Suttons Bay, MI.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren Heath Robb and Justin Shadowens, one brother in infancy Robert Lee Robb, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at Elm Street Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 noon Tuesday, at Elm Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
