Hortense G.  Lee (Melton)
Hortense G. Lee, 94, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society-Simla, Colorado.

Hortense was born on April 7, 1922, in Murphysboro, to Arthur D. Melton and Mary (Ebersohl) Melton Botterbusch.

She had worked as a saleslady for Sears in Chicago and then transferred to Sears in Colorado Springs. She had worked for over thirty years.

While living in Waterloo, she faithfully attended the New Testament Baptist Church, and then after she moved to Colorado, she attended the High Plains Orthodox Presbyterian Church, until her health declined.

Hortense married William G. Lee on August 19, 1941, in Perryville, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter and son in law Donna and Gene Adams of Colorado Springs, CO and one son and daughter in law Larry Dean and Natalie Lee from Calhan, CO;

five grandchildren Amber Maliszewski and her husband Tony Maliszewski, Tisha Adams, Jenelle Schardt and her husband Chris Schardt, Heather Frank and her husband Hans Frank and Courtney Lee;

one great grandson Jackson Frank;

one brother Patrick Melton of Japan; and one sister Shirley Zarate of Waterloo, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters, Ruth Kelly, Larry Melton, Donald Melton, Betty Robinson, Gloria Gibson, Henry Melton, and Dorothy Bean Kessler.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Larry Dean Lee officiating and burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society-Silma, P.O. Box 38, Silma, CO 80835.
