Obituary for William T. Held

William T.  Held
William T. Held, 73, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in Tavares, FL.

William was born on February 8, 1943, in Murphysboro, to William J. Held and Jeanette (Smith) Held.

He had worked in the Pipefitting Industry and was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local # 160.

Bill greatly enjoyed his family.

Mr. Held was a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.

He married Margaret Kupel on October 21, 1980, in Chester, Illinois and she survives in Murphysboro;

Other survivors include seven children, thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Laurie Held-Biehl, her husband John and their children Emily Rene Biehl and John Francis Biehl IV - always known as Jack - of Rancho Santa Margarita, California;

Kathryn Ann Goodwin, her husband John, and their children, Kasi Goodwin-Bathurst and Matthew Alann Goodwin, as well as his great granddaughter McKenzee Kate Goodwin-Bathurst, also of Rancho Santa Margarita, California;

Jason Held of Temecula, CA;

Clayton Held and his wife Katrina Held and their daughter Sabrina Held, all Clinton, IL;

Jennifer Harris and her husband Barclay Harris and their children Jacob Harris and Tyler Harris, all of Pawnee and Chris Purcell of Springfield, IL;

Julie Purcell of Kent, TX and her children Julian Garcia, Jarred Garcia, and Jaremey Garcia, all of Wichita Falls, TX,

and Rob Purcell and his daughters Shelby Purcell and Kaley Purcell, all of Chicago, IL.

One sister Judith (Held) Lirely of Murphysboro and her children Jill Sweatman and husband Jim Sweatman and their children Zachary and Rebecca, all of Kissimmee, Florida, and Reid Lirely and his wife Leah of Tel Aviv, Israel.

He was preceded in death by one infant son Marcus Wilson Held, and his parents. He was also preceded in death by his brothers in law Raymond Jay Wilson and Charles Edward Lirely.

His body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
