Obituary for Mary Alice Goodin

Mary Alice  Goodin
Mary Alice Goodin, 89, of Carbondale, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Mary Alice was born on September 20, 1926, in Seattle, WA, to Howard Irving Magladry and Margaret Genevieve (Romens) Magladry.

She had been an instructor in the English Department at SIU-Carbondale.

Mrs. Goodin was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale. Many years ago, she was a member of the League of Women Voters.

Mary Alice married George Vincent Goodin on June 21, 1952, in Sumner, Washington and he survives.

Other survivors include seven children Margaret Goodward and her husband David Goodward of Grand Terrace, CA, George "Sam" Goodin and his wife Donna Goodin of Carbondale, Peter Goodin and his wife Cate Goodin of Naples, FL, Ruth Dougherty and her partner John Lipe of Carbondale, Thomas Goodin and his wife Robyn Stephens, Anthony Goodin and his wife Terri Goodin, and Kayte Goodin and her husband Kurt Facco, all of Carbondale;

seven grandchildren Jenna Goodward, Gavin Goodward, Elizabeth Doughtery, Portia Goodin, Robert Goodin, Paul Goodin, and Keira Goodin;

and one great granddaughter Emma Claire Stace.

She was preceded in death by one brother George Magladry and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Father Bob Flannery officiating and burial at Dutch Ridge Cemetery near Pomona.
