Loretta B.  Varner (Wuest)
Loretta B. Varner, 74, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Loretta was born on June 26, 1942, in Murphysboro, to Clarence Wuest and Henrietta (Karl) Wuest.

She had worked at several stores at the jewelry counter and the last place that she had worked was J. C. Penney's in Carbondale.

Mrs. Varner was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and a member of the St. Andrew Altar Society.

She married James Austin on October 5, 1963, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1994. She then married Robert Varner on June 29, 2003, in Branson, MO, and he survives.

Other survivors include five children and their spouses Jeffrey and Lori Austin and Michelle and Kent Martin, all of Murphysboro, Patricia and Scott Calhoun of Newton Falls, OH, and Pamela and Tom Pulcher and Matthew and Jackie Austin, all of Murphysboro:

two step sons Scott Varner of Murphysboro and Mark Varner and his wife Julie Varner of Franklin, TN;

ten grandchildren Devan Austin, Payton Austin, Jordan Martin, Jodi Calhoun Flinn and her husband Zak Flinn, Christopher Calhoun, Kyle Calhoun, Austin Pulcher, Justin Pulcher, Morgan Austin, and Emma Austin;

one brother Jim Wuest of Murphysboro;

and two sisters Judy Heininger of Swansea and Dorothy Timmons of Belleville.

She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and her parents.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Altar Society, St. Andrew School, or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
