Obituary for Doris D. Presley (Yow)

Doris D.  Presley (Yow)
Doris D. Presley, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8 a.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Doris was born on June 20, 1934, in Carbondale, Illinois, to James E. Yow and Virginia O. (Tompkins) Yow.

She was a housewife, who loved to cook and eat, and take care of her kids and grandkids. She also liked to paint ceramics.

Mrs. Presley was a member of New Life Church of Carbondale.

Doris married James "Jim" Presley in July of 1957, in Shawneetown, Illinois, and he survives.

Other survivors include five children and their spouses Vicki and Bill Eberhardt of West Frankfort, Connie and John Harrison of Murphysboro, Tara "Susie" and Brad Qualls of Tamaroa, Curt and Cindy Presley of Murphysboro, and Larry and Amy Presley of Mt. Vernon, IL;

sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and one on the way, and seven great great grandchildren;

one special cousin Phyllis Tow of Carbondale and aunt Bonnie (Presley) Gwaltney.

She was preceded in death by one sister Patsy Dean, one brother in law Robert Presley, and her in-laws Ernest and Beatrice (Baggett) Presley.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the Makanda Baptist Church, across from Evergreen Cemetery, where committal services will follow with Rev. Jason Harrison officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Makanda Evergreen Cemetery Fund. The family would especially like to thank India and Marie from Celtic Hospice and also the staff at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care given to Doris during her illness.
