Obituary for Sandie Schwebel (Weiss)
Sandie Schwebel, 62, of Murphysboro, passed away a 10:47 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 2016, at her residence in Murphysboro.
Sandie was born on December 28, 1953, in Highland, Illinois, to Robert Weiss and Elizabeth (Howard) Weiss.
She had worked for many years as a legal secretary, then recently as a real estate agent, and she had been a sitter at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, but her greatest rewards came from being mom and a homemaker.
Mrs. Schwebel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pocahontas and she attended the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.
Sandie married Gene Schwebel on December 20, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri, and he survives of Murphysboro.
Other survivors include two daughters Carrie Schwebel of Columbia, MO, and Katie Schwebel-Stewart and her husband Lee Stewart of Hurst, IL;
there is one granddaughter on the way, due in December;
and three sisters survive Linda Rozich of Centralia, Mary Horton of Highland, and Arlen Atkins of Augusta, GA.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Andy and Leonard "Corky" Weiss.
Her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. The family would prefer that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
