Obituary for Norma Maria Rodriguez (Troya)
Norma Maria Rodriguez, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Century Assisted Living in Carbondale.
Norma was born in Guanabo va ceca, Cuba to Ismael Troya and Nieves (Ortega) Troya.
She had worked as a radio telegrapher.
Mrs. Rodriguez enjoyed ballroom dancing and working puzzles. She loved her family and pets, especially dogs.
Norma married Dr. Raimundo M. Rodriguez on June 16, 1951, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2006.
She is survived by three children Charles Rodriguez and his wife Teresa Rodriguez of Murphysboro, Ruth Ann Reid and her husband Kurt Reid of Morgantown, NC, and Diana Polk of Wilmette, IL;
eight grandchildren Natalie Rodriguez and Nick Rodriguez, both of Swansea, IL; Chris Reid, Jack Reid and Morgan Reid, all of Morgantown, NC; Colin Curran of Crested Butte, CO, Sean Curran of San Jose, CA, and Daniel Polk, Wilmette, IL;
and three great grandchildren Sienna Rodriguez, Pippa Rodriguez and Penelope Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by one son Dr. Raymond Rodriguez, one sister Matilde Nelon and her parents.
