Obituary for Audrey M. Sauer (Burdick)
Audrey M. Sauer, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:07 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Manor Court of Carbondale.
Audrey was born on October 11, 1934, in Grand Tower, Illinois, to Frank M. Burdick and Velma Jane (Serres) Burdick.
She was a former avid bowler.
Mrs. Sauer was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and she was a member of the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary # 1024, the V.F.W. Post # 7190 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Murphysboro Elk's Lodge # 572.
Audrey married John W. Sauer on November 29, 1958, in Raddle, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2002.
She is survived by three children Marilyn Zak and her husband Steven Zak, Debbie Sauer, and Tom Sauer and his wife Teresa Sauer, all of Murphysboro;
two grandchildren Brian Sauer of Chicago and Bradley Sauer of Carbondale;
two brothers and two sisters in law Charles and Kathryn Burdick of Grand Tower and Ron and Judy Burdick of Murphysboro;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy Mary Jane Sauer, two brothers Henry and Wendell Burdick, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Father Gary Gummersheimer and Charles Burdick officiating, and burial will be at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elk's Children Care. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
