Obituary for Charles Arthur Needham

Charles Arthur  Needham
Charles Arthur Needham, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at his residence at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017.

Charles was born on December 26, 1927, of Carbondale, Illinois, to Arthur Needham and Flossie (Foster) Needham.

He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Charles had worked in the Ink Room and the Quality Control Lab at Lustour Corporation in Murphysboro for twenty two years.

Mr. Needham was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting when he could, and more recently he enjoyed doing word search puzzles.

Charles married Jean Davis on December 24, 1950, in Murphysboro and she survives.

Other survivors include six children Gary Needham of Port St. Lucie, FL, Randy Needham and his wife Jo Ann Needham of Murphysboro, Clarence Needham and his wife Pam Needham of Swansea, IL, Wade Needham, LeJeana Castlebery and her husband Rich Castlebery, all of Murphysboro, and Raymond Needham and his girlfriend Amanda Tabbert of Sparks, NE;

fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren;

and 1 sister Vera of Washington.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, his parents, and his parents in law Clarence and Verna Mae Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis D. Middleton officiating and burial will be at Murdale Gardens of Memory with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Big Muddy River to River Assisted Living for their care and hard work that they gave to Mr. Needham, and they would also like to thank the staff of the Infusion Lab at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital for their care and concern for Mr. Needham.
