Thomas D. Gahagan
Thomas D. Gahagan, 74, of Murphysboro, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 12, 2017.
Thomas was born on September 28, 1942, in Bruce, Mississippi, to Luther Gahagan and Amy (Denton) Gahagan.
He had served in the Illinois Air National Guard.
Mr. Gahagan was a loan officer and vice president of the First Bank and Trust Company in Murphysboro, retiring after twenty-five years of service.
One of the greatest things that he loved to do was to go fishing.
He married Joan Kaempfe on November 4, 1967, in Columbia, Illinois, and she survives.
Other survivors include four children and their spouses: Erin and Dean Riggins of Pinckneyville, Michael and Nikki Gahagan, Angela Gahagan and Shawn Clover, and Amy Gahagan and Eddy Cripps, all of Murphysboro;
six grandchildren Ashlyn Ellison, Gabriel Clover, Hunter Riggins, Duke Riggins, Hannah Gahagan, and Clara Gahagan;
one brother Paul Gahagan of Bartlett, TN; and one sister Jan Gahagan of Calhoun County, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In Tom's memory, the family would really appreciate memorials to the National Kidney Foundation and those memorials may be sent or brought to Pettett Funeral Home.
