B. Sue Gillooly, 84, of Murphysboro, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at her residence in Murphysboro.

Sue was born on February 22, 1933, in Tamms, Illinois, to Odell Lambert and Verda (Sherwood) Lambert.


She had married James H. Gillooly on March 29, 1952 in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1974.

She had worked as a bus driver.

Mrs. Gillooly was a very active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, where she was a member of the St. Andrew Altar Society, and an Associate with the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 7190 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post # 127, and the Elks Lodge.

Sue is survived by six children Deborah Sue Jones, Jamie (Ron) Tuttle, Janet Kae Stein, Regina (Ronnie) Reed, and Barbara Dixon, all of Murphysboro, and Diane (Scott) McBrien of Hampstead, MD;

nineteen grandchildren Lori (Shane) Zeboski, Brian (Taryen) Tuttle, Paul (Ruth) Carpenter, Jamie (John) Ferguson, Monica (Mike) Crawford, Mike Jones (Tabitha Minor), Jimmy (Robin) Tuttle, Brandy (Steve) Wilcox, Misty (Charlie) McLaughlin, Heather Chapman, Alan Cross, Cindy Reed, Katie (David) McNeil, Hailley (TJ) Dodd, Kameron Neuhaus, Sofie McBrien, Emily Dixon, Brett Neuhaus, and Madison McBrien;

thirty great grandchildren and one great great grandson;

Lacey, her 5 pound Maltese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Robert and Richard Lambert, and her parents.

Her body will be cremated and a funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, where visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
