Obituary for Amelia Rebecca McCoy

Amelia Rebecca McCoy, 80, of Murphysboro, passed away at her residence at 8:41 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017.

Amelia was born on June 5, 1937, in Murphysboro, to Harry Murphy and Rosalie (Loy) Murphy.

She had retired from working at SIU-Carbondale in janitorial services.

Amelia enjoyed sewing and crocheting

Mrs. McCoy was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and a member of the American Legion Post # 127 Ladies Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Post # 7190 Ladies Auxiliary.

Amelia is survived by six children Cindy Ward and her husband Jerry Ward and Cheryl Garcia, all of Murphysboro, Brenda Gruber and her husband Andy Gruber of Burlington, KY, Karen Marko, Teresa McCoy, and Pam Lipe and her husband Kevin Lipe, all of Murphysboro;

fourteen grandchildren Tiffany Ward, Jake (Becca) Ward, Jared (Lindsey) Ward, April (Chris) Tysor, Alex Nash, Kyle Nash, Kelly (Justin) Anderson, Eric Gruber, Jason (Sherrie) Marko, Chris Marko, Amy McCoy, Kierstin Lipe, Cody (Hailey) Brashear, and Casey (Ashly) Brashear;

eleven great grandchildren Jada Ward, Caylee Cristman, Coletan Christman, Tobias Anderson, Alissa Hagglund, Jayden Marko, Ethan Marko, Mason Brashear, Carter Brashear, Illinia Brashear and Mia Brashear;

one sister Doris Pisciotta and her husband Vince Pisciotta of Troy, MO;

two sister in laws and one brother in law Lois Murphy and Delbert and Betty McCoy, all of Murphysboro, and Wanda McCoy of The Colony, TX.

She was preceded in death by one son Virgil McCoy, three brothers Harry, John Lee and Bill Murphy, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Father James Buerster officiating and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery.
