Obituary for Beverly J. Holt (Hamilton)
Beverly J. Holt, 80, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at Manor Court in Carbondale.
Beverly was born on August 27, 1934, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Robert Hamilton and Helen (Nestor) Hamilton.
Mrs. Holt was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
Bev worked at Ihle's Florists from 1978 to 2007 and she was most known for being the delivery lady that wore the gold hat with wings.
She married Richard J. Holt on June 24, 1951, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter Dr. Deborah A. Frey and her husband Alex "Skip" Frey of Makanda and their son Kevin Frey and his wife Gina Frey of Amherst, NH;
one son Richard James "Jim" Holt and his wife Joni Holt and their son Vincent James Holt, all of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Shaker Samuel officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Gravesite services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro or the Rotary International in care of Deborah Frey.
