Obituary for Dorothy M. Ellis (Hooker)
Dorothy M. Ellis, 69, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:03 a.m. Sun. January 3, 2016, at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
Dorothy was born on July 1, 1946, in Rockford, Illinois, to William "Willie" Hooker and Julie (Meuli) Hooker Jackson.
She had worked in housekeeping in a hospital in Rockford.
Mrs. Ellis was a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter Bonnie Berger;
one son Tommy William Hooker;
one granddaughter on the way Samantha June Marie Galloway;
two sisters Margie Whitson and her husband Giles A. Whitson, Jr. and Mary Ellen Brown;
two nieces Gail Beasley and her husband John A. Beasley and their children U. S. Army Pvt. John W. R. Beasley and Sabrina LeAnn Beasley, and Theresa McDaniel and her son Jacob McDaniel;
and two nephews Giles Whitson III and Thomas Whitson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Arthur William Hooker, and two sisters Nancy Marie Hooker and Bonnie Jean Hooker.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Wed. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Machesney Park, IL. For more information, please visit http://www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
