Obituary for Francesca Anne Vallo
Francesca Anne Vallo, 67, of Sparta, passed away at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Francesca was born on Oct. 26, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Francis Vallo and Ireen (Urbanik) Vallo.
Thirty five years ago, Miss Vallo started working as a High School Counselor at the Sparta High School. In the mid 90's she became the principal of the Lincoln Middle School in Sparta and retired in 2006.
Miss Vallo was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sparta. She was a member of the Sparta Library Board, and she was a member of the Retired Administrators Association.
Francesca is survived by one sister and brother in law Margot and Gary Mattin of Sycamore, IL;
and two nephews Seth Mattin and Luke Mattin, both of Fairview, OR.
She was preceded in death by one niece Sabrina Anne Mattin, one nephew Ross Alexander Mattin, and her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and until 9:45 a.m. Monday at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sparta Public Library or Lincoln Middle School Learning Center, Sparta, IL. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
