Obituary for Mereda White (Drueke)

Mereda  White (Drueke)
Mereda White, 90, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Mereda was born on July 15, 1925, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to William O. Drueke and Rose Marie (Borgers) Drueke.

She was a graduate of Murphysboro High School.

Mrs. White was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and a member of the St. Andrew Altar Society and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life. She was very devoted to being a homemaker for her family.

Mereda married Herman L. White on September 5, 1944, at the St. Andrew Church in Murphysboro, and he survives. Herman was her faithful husband and she was his loving wife, which made a beautiful love story for seventy two years.

She was a dear mother to Rita Rose Ripley and mother in law to Lawrence Ripley.

She was a beloved grandmother to Cindy Meyer; grandmother in law to Lee Meyer, and she was Gee Gee to two great grandsons Kyle Lockhart Meyer and Aaron Matthew Meyer, all of Millstadt;

and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Rosemary Paszalek and Frances Wilder, three brothers William O. Drueke, Jack Drueke, and Paul Wanstreet, and her parents.


A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
