Cynthia Jeannene  Pettett (Hinton)
Cynthia Jeannene Pettett, of Hardin, Kentucky, formerly of Murphysboro, Illinois, entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2016, in Stafford, Virginia.

She was born February 2, 1938, in Pana, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene J. and Winifred R. (Southwell) Hinton.

Cynthia graduated from the Pana High School and received her BS in Women’s Physical Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

During her lifetime, Cynthia taught at the Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, IL, Keller Grade School, Peoria Heights, IL, Gorham Schools, Gorham, IL, worked several years helping her husband, Gene, at Pettett Funeral Home, Murphysboro, IL, and was the retired owner/operator of Kenlake Marina and Cindy’s on the Barge restaurant located at Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora, KY.

On November 22, 1964, in Pana, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Herbert E. (Gene) Pettett.

Born to this union are two daughters: Monique N. Pettett, Fredericksburg, VA, Jeannene P. (Kristian) Hall of Stafford, VA, one granddaughter: Emma W. Hall, Stafford, VA.

Also surviving are two brothers: Eugene W. Hinton, Hardin, KY., and George W. Hinton, Springfield, IL.

She is a member of St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church, Benton, KY.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home, Murphysboro, IL, with Rev. Melissa Waterman officiating and visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in the Lacon Cemetery, Lacon, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church, 3966 U.S. Hwy 641 N, Benton, KY 42025.
