Obituary for Eunice M. Hunziker (Cummins)
Eunice M. Hunziker, 95, of Murphysboro, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, at Manor Court of Carbondale.
Eunice was born on December 14, 1921, in Carbondale, Illinois, to William Cummins and Ora (Burris) Cummins.
She had worked as a piece worker at the former Good Luck and Brown Shoe Factories in Murphysboro.
Mrs. Hunziker was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church, the American Legion Post # 127 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Murphysboro Senior Citizens.
Eunice married Fred Hunziker on April 9, 1938, in Jackson, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1990.
She is survived by one son and daughter in law Delmar and Carolyn Hunziker of Jonesboro;
two daughter in laws Judy Hunziker of Vergennes and Sue Hunziker of Murphysboro;
ten grandchildren Jeff Hunziker, Fred Hunziker, Ted Hunziker, Dawn Caplinger, Beth Happold, Tina Caraway, Billy Hunziker, John Hunziker, Crystal Stearns and Bethany Varner;
and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, three sisters, and her parents.
Gravesite services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Tower Grove Cemetery with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pettett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
