Obituary for Pearledith Counce (Powell)
Pearledith Counce, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at her residence in Murphysboro.
Pearledith was born on March 3, 1928, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Rosser A. Powell and Kathleen (Reeder) Powell.
She had worked for twenty-eight years as an operator and repair clerk for the General Telephone Company.
Mrs. Counce was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, where she helped with many funeral dinners at the church, and she also quilted at the church. Some of her favorites things to do were to read, sew, and bake.
She was a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens and a member of the I.B.E.W. Local # 702.
Pearledith married Donald Eugene Counce on March 16, 1947 in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2006.
She is survived by one son and daughter in law Richard and Roberta Counce of Murphysboro;
two granddaughters Kristine Stearns and her husband Bill Stearns and Stephanie Counce, all of Murphysboro;
and three great grandsons Triston Kazi, Maxon Stearns and Brockton Stearns, all of Murphysboro.
She was preceded in death by one brother Robert "Bobby" Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Waterman officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
