Obituary for Harry C. Mason

Harry C.  Mason
Harry C. Mason, 88, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at his residence.

Harry was born on February 28, 1928, in Trigg County, KY, to Henry Mason, Sr. and Anice (Froman) Mason.

He had served in the U. S. Army National Guard for nine years during Korean Conflict.

In Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he served forty-four years was a firefighter and retired as the Deputy Chief of the Hopkinsville Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge, and the Kentucky Firefighters Association.

In his younger years, Harry liked to square dance, but more recently he enjoyed dancing and traveling. His family meant a great deal to him.

Mr. Mason was a member of Murdale Baptist Church in Carbondale.

Harry married Evelyn Renshaw on July 27, 1959, and she preceded him in death on July 24, 2003. He later married Clara Rose Mifflin on June 6, 2006, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include one daughter and son in law Connie Faye and Paul Farmer of Hopkinsville, KY;

three step children and their spouses Dale and Susan Mifflin of Murphysboro, Donna and Tom Margolis of Carbondale, and David and Debbie Mifflin of Grand Rivers, KY;

two granddaughters Tara Hope King and Ashley Walton; eight step grandchildren;

three great grandchildren Peyton Josiah King, Ashton Boyd and Sheldon King; three step great grandchildren

and three great great grandchildren Emma Katherine Walton, Caleb Mason Boyd, and Ava Moriah-Jane Alder;

He was preceded in death by four brothers James C. Mason, Henry McKinney Mason, Jr., John Froman Mason, and Adrian Layton Mason, four sisters Elizabeth Ann Thobaben, Rubye Clemens, Clara Simpson, and Maudie Lee Buckley, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016, at Murdale Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church, and memorials may be made to the Murdale Baptist Church in Carbondale or the Hopkinsville Fire Department in Hopkinsville, KY.
