Philip Aldolph Engel
Philip Aldolph Engel, 86, formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at his residence in Carbondale, Illinois.
Philip was born on August 2, 1930, in Lancaster, California, to Aldolph Engel and Pearl (Ozborn) Engel.
He had worked for the Farm Supply for many years and then went to work for Yellow Freight for over thirty years as truck driver, retiring at the age of 80 and 1/2.
Mr. Engel was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Bridgeport.
He enjoyed being with his family and his church family.
Philip married Mae Walls on October 26, 1951, in Lawrenceville and she survives in Carbondale.
Other survivors include four daughters Janice Bilyeu and her husband Don Bilyeu of Murphysboro, Barbara Raisanen and her husband Don Raisanen of Arlington Heights, IL, Sharon Engel and her husband Ron Smith of Hudson, Massachusetts, and Phyllis Egendoefer and her husband Tim Egendoefer of Cocoa Beach, FL;
three grandchildren John Pruitt of Chicago, Rebecca Ward and her husband Jake Ward of Kansas City, MOM, and Rachel Bilyeu of Murphysboro;
and one sister Clara Roberts and her husband Jack Roberts of Lawrenceville.
He was preceded in death by one brother George Engel and his parents.
His body has been donated to the SIU School of Medicine in Carbondale, Illinois, and a memorial service will be held in the Lawrenceville area at a later date.
