Obituary for Gary L. Russell

Gary L.  Russell
Gary L. Russell, 66, of DeSoto, passed away at 12:49, p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Gary was born on May 8, 1951, in Murphysboro, to Bobby Joe Russell and Delores Jean (Stamm) Russell.

He loved spending time with his grandkids, fur babies, and grand fur babies. Gary was always willing to help his family and would do anything for anyone else that needed help.

Mr. Russell served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 2605 in Carbondale.

He was retired and was a part time mower with J & S Services in DeSoto.

Gary married Cindy Randolph on May 20, 1979, in DeSoto, Illinois and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law Charity and Tony Charles and Tiffany and Daniel Kovacs, all of DeSoto;

two grandchildren Gary Michael Russell and Jason Alexander Kovacs;

his close friend Dougie Ticer of DeSoto;

one brother and sister in law Mike and Kay Russell of Vergennes;

two sisters and two brothers in law Diane and Mick Jones of DeSoto and Bobbi Jo and Brian Pegg of Missouri;

three brothers in law Dave Randolph of Cobden, Brad Randolph and his wife Sue Randolph of Alto Pass, and Matt Randolph of Murphysboro;

and one sister in law Angie Randolph and her husband Ray Mestel of Elkville;

He was preceded in death by one grandson Jo Jo Kovacs, one sister Teresa Snyder, one brother in law Doug Randolph, one sister in law Lisa Randolph, his parents, and his parents in law Mary Jane and Deano Randolph.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, September 18, 2017, at Pettett Funeral Home with Doug Ticer officiating and burial with military services conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127 at the DeSoto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
